Unique Equine Gifts

While woodworking is just one of Mariagrazia's hobbies, she has sold numerous woodworking pieces, and is often commissioned to create custom items. The true joy of woodworking, Mariagrazia said, is the process of creating a piece. "It's very relaxing for me and gives me a feeling of accomplishment."

Her favorite types of wood are hardwoods; she prefers to use colored wood and clear finishes rather than paint her pieces. "I generally try to use woods that are the color of the piece," Mariagrazia said. "I like oak, maple and walnut, and I'like exotic woods like purple heart. I also like sandalwood and beechwood. "I prefer hardwood to soft wood like pine, but I do use pine if that's what someone wants for the finished piece."

We offer a variety of unique sawn and fretwork wooden treasures that would make great gifts or add to your collection of collectables. All items are handmade with care from a variety of local and exotic hardwoods.

This beautiful work will make a wonderful addition to any collection.

The Wood: Imbuya is officially classified as Endangered within its natural habitat in Brazil (Source - World Conservation Monitoring Center - 1992 ). The species is reported to occur in the southern region of Brazil, particularly in the humid Araucaria forests in Parana and Santo Catarina. It is usually found at altitudes of 2500 to 4000 feet (760 to 1220 m) growing alongside Parana pine. The tree also grows in the rainforests of the States of Sao Paolo and Rio Grande do Sul. The species is considered to be one of the most important commercial species in Brazil. High demand, fueled by Imbuia's high commercial value, is reported to have drastically reduced the population of the species within its natural habitat.
